Improve details for essay design

There are several design and content aspects of the essays as they are currently displayed that should be improved.
- Design refinement: the bubble footnote is huge within the text.
- Parity with Quire: The footnote is inactive. It would be useful if the text of the footnote was accessible in a hover, or if it took you to the linked footnote at the bottom of the text.
- Parity with Quire: Would it be possible to incorporate a short-code to prevent line breaks ( )
- Design 2 or 3 standard widths, rather than having the layout dynamically respond to the width of the page. (Compare to the New York Times!)
- Have the figure number appear justified either to the right or the left of the caption (see attachment; I don't like how "fig. 7" is on the right and "fig. 8" is on the left)
