Currently publications are being sorted alphabetically on a letter-by-letter basis regardless of when a word ends. We would like this changed to a word-by-word system that takes whole words into account when sorting. For example, the following articles are in this order in the bibliographic index: "Art in New York: Uptown." Time 84, no. 17 (October 23, 1964), pp. sec. NY, p. 5. "Artist Bearden to Talk on U.S. Negro Painters." Atlanta Constitution (April 22, 1968), p. 3. "Artist Bearden Works on Exhibit at Waitsfield." Rutland Daily Herald (Vermont) (April 14, 1967), p. 16. "Art Works Exhibition Due Here." Lima News (Ohio) (April 25, 1968), p. 19. However, they should be in this order instead: "Art in New York: Uptown." Time 84, no. 17 (October 23, 1964), pp. sec. NY, p. 5. "Art Works Exhibition Due Here." Lima News (Ohio) (April 25, 1968), p. 19. "Artist Bearden to Talk on U.S. Negro Painters." Atlanta Constitution (April 22, 1968), p. 3. "Artist Bearden Works on Exhibit at Waitsfield." Rutland Daily Herald (Vermont) (April 14, 1967), p. 16. Another example of this is as follows: In the Bearden PD general literature section, the publication Fineberg, Jonathan. Art Since 1940: Strategies of Being. New York: Harry N. Abrams, Inc., 1995. is before Fine, Elsa Honig. The Afro-American Artist: A Search for Identity. New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1973. But this should be the other way around.
