When the title of an exhibition has been transliterated, or is written in a language other than English, German, or a Romance Language, we need a way to indicate what the original language is. (Currently, the only option is to add the information in the title field. However, because we cannot use markdown in the title field, the annotation renders in italics, just like the title, which is not ideal.) Currently, we can record: Original Title: Taisei Bijutsu tenrankai: Ohara Magozaburô shi shôshû Translated title: The European Masterpieces: Ohara Collection We need something that would publicly indicate that the original title is Japanese. This would also be true if the original title were in Kanji. Additionally, there are (old, PS5) exhibitions in our database (see Exh. ID 16182) that took place in Japan. The title is currently in French, but without doing additional research one cannot determine whether the catalogue was (a) in Japanese and translated to French (b) In both French and Japanese or ( c) We are documenting a reprint that is only in French.
